"The moment before, and the breaths taken after--these are the stories inside an image, moments distilled and frozen into the isolation of the still frame. But when an image grows too large, spilling out of the frame, it begins to enter another ambit, the art of the illustration of instance. Michael Hirshenson, a Hollywood casting professional for movies such as "Hook," "Lord of the Flies," and "Jurassic Park," has demonstrated Ash's quote well in his film "Moving Stills."

This 4 minute 45 second short is literally an experimental art film by which the still photographer, Ash Gupta, sees moments frozen in time through his lens, while the filmmaker, Michael Hirshenson tells a story with movement and sound. The movie is further enhanced musically with score by Grammy Award-winning composer Joe Romersa, and is an official selection of the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
